Our guest speaker will be Stacy M. Butterfield:
Stacy M. Butterfield is a distinguished professional and Certified Public Accountant serving as the Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller for Polk County. In her third term, she holds the honor of being the first female elected to this position. With over 35 years of experience in the Polk County Clerk's office, her expertise is evident in safeguarding public funds and records. Clerk Butterfield fulfills three crucial roles as Clerk of the Circuit Court, County Recorder, and County Comptroller. Her commitment to the community is reflected in the more than 1,000 services her office provides to the Polk County residents. She is deeply rooted in the community, having grown up in Polk County, and remains actively involved in various capacities. In addition to her role as Clerk, she is a Certified Public Accountant with academic achievements, holding both bachelor's and master's degrees from Florida Southern College. Clerk Butterfield's passion for the importance of Clerks' roles in Florida is demonstrated through her leadership as the past President of the Florida Court Clerks & Comptrollers, serving on the Board of Directors, and contributing to numerous committees. Her involvement extends beyond the local level; she serves on the Board of Directors of the Florida Courts E-Filing Authority and the Executive Council of the Clerks of Court Operations Corporation (CCOC). Clerk Butterfield's dedication to the legal system is highlighted by her recent appointments to two Supreme Court workgroups by Florida Supreme Court Chief Justice Charles Canady, focusing on Access to Justice and the Continuity of Court Operations and Proceedings During and After COVID-19 Furthermore, she is an active member of professional associations such as the Government Finance Officers Association, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Florida Government Finance Officer’s Association (FGFOA). Stacy M. Butterfield's remarkable career, extensive experience, and commitment to public service make her a valuable and respected leader in her field.
